Taiwan-based second-tier motherboard maker ASRock on April 27 applied for listing on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) with paid-in capital of NT$743.09 million (US$22.3 million). Congrats to ASRock for doing as well as they have over the years.
In 2006, the company, which was listed on the emerging stock market, recorded net profits before tax of NT$2.44 billion with earnings per share (EPS) of NT$23.94, according to the Chinese-language ETtoday. Samsung Electronics has started mass producing flash memory chips that both hold more data and work at higher speeds than competing chips, it said on Sunday.
The new chips, each of which can hold 2GB of data, will likely increase competition in the already highly competitive flash market and maintain the pressure that has seen chip prices fall by more than half in the last year. The read speed has been increased from 17MBps to 30MBps for high capacity cards and the write speed is almost doubled from 4.4MBps to 8MBps, said Samsung.
